The King: The Music of Elvis
CHANDLER CENTER FOR THE ARTS presents The King: The Music of Elvis
CHANDLER, AZ [December 1, 2016] On Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 3 p.m
Broadway stars bring the music of Elvis Presley to the Chandler Center for the Arts. Tickets are $58, $52 & $46.
Elvis Presley was The King...and he changed American music forever. We celebrate thrilling performances of his greatest hits, including "Heartbreak Hotel," "Love Me Tender," "Don't Be Cruel," "Hound Dog" and more with a twelve-piece orchestra! These are not Elvis impersonators; these are four Broadway and cabaret singers that bring a new twist; shake, rattle and roll to the classic hits of The KING!
Brian Wilson is excited to celebrate the music of Elvis Presley. Brian toured the US and Canada with the Broadway Musical CATS, playing the roles of Old Deuteronomy and Gus, the Theater Cat. In addition to CATS, he has performed regionally, in South Florida, Texas and at Dollywood. Lee Lessack's graceful lyric baritone vocals and sophisticated yet endearing persona have made him a shining star of the international concert scene. Billboard Magazine calls his singing, "Cabaret romanticism of a high order." Touring extensively in the United States and Europe to sold-out performances and releasing five albums, Lessack has proven himself both as performer and recording artist.
A native of Philadelphia, Mr. Lessack makes his home in Los Angeles, where in 1996 he founded LML Music (www.LMLmusic.com), whose catalog of CDs includes over 100 of the country's top live recording artists and performers. Johnny Rodgers is an internationally celebrated singer songwriter, pianist, Broadway star and recording artist.
Johnny won the Billboard and The Great American Song contests and the ASCAP Foundation Award for his songwriting. Liza Minnelli recognized Johnny's talent taking him on her world tour and then as featured singer, dancer, pianist, and songwriter in the Tony Award winning Liza's At The Palace, which now appears on PBS television. Johnny co-wrote the featured song "I Would Never Leave You" and is included on the show's DVD release as well as the Grammy-nominated CD. Rodgers has also performed and/or recorded with Michael Feinstein, Randy Brecker, Tom Harrell, Stephen Schwartz, Susan Werner, Dave Koz, Clint Holmes, and Ann Hampton Callaway, among others. Johnny is also the Music Supervisor and song co-writer of Motherhood: The Musical which debuted off Broadway in 2010 and continues touring with growing accolades.
Scott Coulter is one of New York's most honored vocalists and was director and star of A CHRISTMAS CAROL: THE SYMPHONIC CONCERT in its world premiere with the Baltimore Symphony and reprised his role in the Emmy-nominated PBS production which premiered in December 2013. Scott has performed with Grammy winning composer Stephen Schwartz and his revue STEPHEN SCHWARTZ & FRIENDS. Schwartz has said, "One of the greatest things that can happen to a composer is to have his music interpreted by Scott Coulter." He has performed with symphonies all over the world including San Francisco, Baltimore, Seattle, Phoenix, Winnipeg, St. Louis and Calgary. Noted for his soaring high notes and pure tone, Scott's vocal versatility has garnered rave reviews from coast to coast. "Coulter is a stratospheric tenor" (The Wall Street Journal) "an 80s pop rock star strength, reminiscent of Phil Collins." (San Francisco Examiner) Scott is founder/owner of Spot-On Entertainment (www.SpotOnEntertainmnet.com). He's a resident director of programming at 54 Below (Broadway's Supper Club) in NYC and is a graduate of the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.
